Designing for Fantasy - 2 Day Workshop Feb 21st-22nd
This live workshop is for concept artists, world builders, and illustrators (This is an advanced workshop covering complex topics, but is student/beginner friendly!)
Attend a two-day workshop on designing for fantasy with Gabriel Quinn on the 21st and 22nd of feb 2026. The workshop will feature 12+ hours of lectures and demonstrations across both days, providing ample opportunities to engage with the instructor and receive real-time explanations and demonstrations to address your tough questions and struggles with fantasy art and design.
WORKSHOP DAY 1 - Feb 21st

Why do we enjoy fantasy, and how can we fully harness its potential? On day 1, we’ll delve into the concept of the “rule of cool” and explore the hidden super power of the implications in your design. We’ll examine how historical influences shape the fantasy genre and provide strategies to overcome detrimental design mistakes that are holding you back.
WORKSHOP DAY 2 - Feb 22nd

Practically drawing and designing for fantasy can seem like it has little rhyme or reason, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. On day 2 we will be going deep on the power of clarity and how to break through with your designs. Gabriel will live demo how to draw objects and motifs of function that actually make sense. We will be diving into the downsides of style (and the secret upsides!). Most importantly, we will be learning when and why to go the extra mile with time consuming detail work.

COURSE WILL BEGIN ON SATURDAY THE 21ST OF FEB AND END ON SUNDAY THE 22ND OF FEB.
Sessions will be held on zoom from 10:00 - 1:00PM EST and from 4:00PM-7:00PM EST (NYC time)
Assignments will be given at the end of the workshop on the 22nd of Feb. Participation will be optional, and feedback will be live on stream.
The community hub will be a discord server made specifically for the this workshop where you will post assignments, ask questions, and encourage each other to improve! The discord will be live closer to the start date of the workshop!
